Aldrich azeotropic distillation apparatus, joint Joint: threaded 14/20

General description

All connections are made using greaseless, 14/20 screw-thread joints. All parts are interchangeable with those contained in the Aldrich All-In-One glassware kit, Z166898. Includes distillation head and 100 mL round-bottom flask. Dropping funnel sold separately, Z167541. Effective for the removal of water from condensation reactions.Azeotropic Technique1. The solvent/H₂O azeotrope is cooled completely by a water-cooled condenser and directed to the extraction reservoir (filled with 4Å molecular sieves through a 14/20 joint). The reservoir joint* can also be used as a septum-inlet for the removal of water via syringe.2. The solvent and any volatile reagents are recycled through the sieves at ambient temperature.3. Additional reagent can be added to the reservoir (via dropping funnel connected at the reservoir joint) as a means of slow addition to a mixture at reflux._{*Use with rubber septa Z564702, Z564699, Z512125, Z512117}
